ADDENDA TO CRIME FICTION IV, Part 9 - by Allen J. Hubin
I thought (hoped) that no significant
further additions to CFIV
(beyond the over 400 pages already in hand) would be needed, but then
along came Bob Adey and Steve Holland with the recommendation that
several series of Aldine paperbacks from the 1920s and 1930s were
largely criminous and should be included (a few already were).
Fortunately the indefatigable Steve Holland had already compiled lists
of all three series: Aldine Boxing Novels, Aldine Football Novels
(which should be understood to be soccer tales), and Aldine Racing
Novels. A few more hours of work, and they're now in my notes for
the Revised CFIV in CD-ROM
and in the ms. for the print version. What remains is to adjust
my statistics for these additions and a number of other recent changes
... sigh ...
- indicates marginal
crime content. SC = Series Character(s).
